Pricing and Cancellations
Any price given before the service is an estimate and is subject to change, depending on a number of factors. These include, but are not limited to;
- Flea infestations
- Aggression and behaviour that makes the groom difficult
- Overweight dogs, or dogs larger than expected when booking
- Matting and general poor condition of coat that requires extra work
- Pets requiring an additional groomer for any reason
- Late collection
- A service that differs to what is originally booked in (ie full groom instead of bath and tidy)

If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment we require at least 48 hours notice or the deposit will be lost. If you do not attend your appointment and we are not notified your deposit will again be lost.

Time Keeping
Wigs Pet Spa requires both drop off and collection to be on time. We will give you an estimated time of the service when you drop off your pet, and aim to notify you at least twenty minutes before they are ready for collection. We want to make sure we have the time needed to give your pet the highest level of service, and also that they are not with us for an extended period of time after the groom that would cause unnecessary stress.
If you expect to be late for your appointment, please call the salon to notify us. We will try our best to keep your appointment but may need to rearrange; this would lose your deposit. If you arrive late with no notification we reserve the right to cancel your appointment which will again lose your deposit.
If you arrive late for collecting your pet after a service, we may charge you an hourly rate for their care.

Behaviour and Medical Issues
Wigs Pet Spa requires you to make us aware of any past aggressive behaviour, both in a grooming environment and every day situations. This is essential so we can accommodate your pet correctly, look after our own health and, in the case of dogs, protect our other animal clients from injury and harm.
When booking an appointment with Wigs Pet Spa, you agree to the use of necessary equipment to keep both your pet, the groomer and other clients safe. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of cages, neck and belly straps, muzzles and soft cones. If your pet usually wears a muzzle throughout the groom or for certain parts (for example, nail clipping), then please let us know at the time of drop off. At any point, we may decide that it is unsafe to continue a service for your pet. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone the appointment and charges may still apply.
Wigs Pet Spa will cater for your pets medical needs as much as possible. If they are elderly, overweight or have old injuries we will give them as many breaks as needed. Pets who are less able to stand for long periods will be allowed to sit/lie down for as much of the groom as possible.
Pets that require extra care and attention due to medical or behavioural reasons may incur extra cost, especially if an additional groomer is needed throughout the service.
As grooming is a physical process, injuries and medical conditions may be aggravated or become apparent that were not noticed prior to the service. If your dog is poorly behaved (ie wriggly, aggressive, hyperactive etc) then injuries can occur during grooming, although we take every precaution to reduce the chance of these happening. Unless Wigs Pet Spa is deemed to be negligent, we take no responsibility for accidents and injuries and will not cover the costs of any vet bills and treatments.
We do not give treats during the grooming process.

Fleas and Ticks
Wigs Pet Spa is a flea free environment. As there are many dogs and cats moving in and out of the salon every day, it is imperative that we look after the needs of every client and do not allow pets to enter with fleas. If you are aware of your pet having fleas, we ask that you do not book in an appointment, or rearrange an already booked appointment, to a time when the fleas have been taken care of.
If we find that your pet has fleas, we reserve the right to cancel your appointment and ask that you immediately collect them. Your deposit will not be refunded. If we are able to, we will offer a flea shampoo treatment that will kill and remove the fleas and eggs on your pet, then continue with their normal grooming service. This is a £25 service for cats and £25-40 for dogs, which is additional to the expected price of the groom. It covers the process of shampooing in the flea treatment, as well as treating the entire salon with a solution to kill fleas and eggs. We will attempt to get in contact with you to confirm the need for a flea shampoo treatment, but if we cannot get hold of you, we reserve the right to carry out the service and charge accordingly at collection.
If any ticks are found on your pet, we will remove them using the correct equipment and procedure. An additional £5 will be charged on collection for tick removal.
Wigs Pet Spa is not responsible for any infection, irritation or injury caused when removing ticks and fleas from your pet.
Whilst Wigs Pet Spa takes every precaution to keep fleas and ticks out of the salon, we will not be held responsible if you find your pet has fleas or ticks after a grooming appointment.

Vaccinations
By booking in a service with Wigs Pet Spa, you confirm that your pet is up to date with required vaccinations. In dogs, these are to protect against parvovirus, canine distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus 1 and 2 and canine parainfluenza. It is recommended that your dog is vaccinated against kennel cough, although this is not a requirement. In cats, vaccinations are to protect against feline enteritis, feline influenza and feline leukaemia virus.  You must inform us if your cat is FIV positive.
Whilst Wigs Pet Spa takes every precaution to clean and disinfect the salon, we will not be held responsible for your pet contracting any of the above diseases that they will be vaccinated against.

Matted Policy

Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal.Brushing out mats can cause extreme pain and even injury to your pet. Wigs Pet Spa will brush out and remove small knots from the coat, as long as the pet is not experiencing discomfort.Any tight or extensive mats will need to be clipped out. On occasion these can be removed and a normal groom carried out, if the mats are in hidden areas (armpits, groin etc) or they are very small. If the matting is over most or all of the body it will be impossible to complete a groom to a longer length and your pet will need to be clipped shorter. The tightness of the matting will determine the length of the coat that can be left, as the clipper blade needs to go underneath the matted hair.Matting cannot be left in the coat as it causes discomfort and pain - the skin is constantly in a state of tension. On rare occasions when the matting is removed, bruising can occur on the skin where normal blood flow resumes. The skin can be sore, irritated and inflamed. The ears may develop hematomas, where blood collects and swells. These circumstances are not caused by the groomer; they are a consequence of a neglected coat.Even though Wigs Pet Spa will take the upmost care when removing matting, on occasion there can be small cuts and grazes caused by the process. This is due to the tightness and tension on the skin. The equipment can also cause irritation when a very short blade is used.Wigs Pet Spa is not responsible for any injury or irritation caused when removing matted hair.Any matting that needs to be brushed out or removed with clippers will incur an additional charge to the service. Where possible we will make you aware of this charge at the time of drop off, but in some cases we will not know how severe the matting is and the work needed until part way through the groom. We will attempt to call you to notify you of the matting and extra charges, but in cases where we cannot get in touch with you,  we will proceed with dematting and you will be charged accordingly on collection.
